Whatever the design printed on your cycle jersey, whether it be a retro style, a classic cycle jersey or your favourite team cycle jersey colours, they all serve the same function. They will be made from a highly wicking fabric that helps you remain cool and dry. Probably with a high UPF sun protection factor, so you can bike with the confidence that you are not getting burnt. The sports touring and racing shirts will be close fitting, with either a deep chest zip or a full zip for maximum venting. A high collar will help you to keep the warmth in on a chilly descent and rear pockets useful for stowing instant fuel bars, a windshirt and maybe extra gloves. For those of us who enjoy our cycling at a different pace then maybe the classic cut would suit better. Still a technically performing shirt the Vaude Men's Pier shirt with its button down front in a single colour that still has back ventilation, discreet reflective patches, and under arm mesh inserts. You will feel great on the bike and look cool in the bar at your lunchtime stop. This is essential bike clothing, not a nice to have, but a must have. The temperature range achieved during fast biking is incredible and will leave you both hot and cold, wet and dry, all on the the same ride, many times. Your cycle jersey is designed to cope with this variety of conditions and show allow you to remain at a constant level of comfort. You can regulate your body's temperature by rolling up the long sleeves and adjusting the deep neck zip. When used in conjunction with a windshirt or a windproof gillet you should be able to cater for all weather eventualities. This of course all needs to be done whilst you are cycling...Good luck.
