Optics
A high quality light means focussing the light into the right configuration - meaning width and lumen distribution - for a particular task.
Micro-Textured Reflectors
A reflector’s shape determines what sort of beam it produces. In general, the bigger the reflector, the tighter the beam; smaller reflectors typically produce a wider beam that better accommodates peripheral vision. Some reflectors are precisely machined from aerospace- grade aluminum, making them extremely strong and giving them the excellent heat-conducting properties to keep the illumination tool functioning properly. Reflectors that are covered with a proprietary micro-textured coating with a mirror-like finish produce a smooth, precisely modulated beam with no rings, shadows, or hot spots. No focusing needed—just hit the switch to get a perfect beam, every time.
Total Internal Reflection (TIR) Lenses
Instead of a reflector, some LED illumination tools use TIR lenses. These are a single piece of precisely molded optics-grade cyclo-olefin polymer. Inherently tough—TIR lenses gather virtually the entire light output of an LED and focus it into a beam that has been carefully configured to balance reach with spread, central to peripheral illumination.
