Baby Carriers
A good baby carrier is one that is easy to use. One that can be adjusted to fit mum and dad, one that has all the features of a quality backpack and more. You will need a rain cover, a sunshade and plenty of storage. Remember this baby carrier will replace your backpack so needs to carry waterproofs for all of you as well as a changing mat, baby food and spare clothes...Oh and a favourite teddy. At Spike we sell carriers for baby that are made from lightweight fabric and very packable. The Vaude Koala is only 320 grams and designed so it can go anywhere with you, it will even go into your luggage. We also sell however, the Vaude Butterfly Comfort. The Rolls Royce of child carriers. It has a fully adjustable back system using Vaude's Tergolight suspension system with a anatomical hip belt for load bearing. It has a body harness to secure the baby along with a neck cradle. It has feet stirrups for balance and stability and as the child grows the seat and neck supports can be adjusted so they too grow. It will comfortably carry a child up to 20 kg. It comes with a sunshade, rain cover and changing mat as well as plenty of free storage. 20 litres in total. It also has a kick out leg for stability when standing. Having sold plenty of baby carriers over the years my experience is, that whilst perhaps paid for by grandparents and initiated by dad, the baby carrier is used more by mum and therefore really does need to fit all members of the family. Be sure the back system is easy to use because it will be the last thing on your mind once the baby is born...and rightly so, it just needs to work.
